About the event
The Extractives Transparency Week (November 23-26, 2020) features talks and learning sessions on various EITI-related topics such as gender, beneficial ownership, and systematic disclosure, among others. The events are grouped according to three subthemes: Synergy, Transparency, and Sustainability.
The weeklong series shall culminate in a National Conference, where the key findings of the Sixth PH-EITI Report [FY 2018] will be presented, and the Transparency Awards will be held to recognize outstanding PH-EITI participating entities.

SESSIONS
1. Women and Extractives - 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Women and Extractives is a talk on the roles of women in the extractives and the sector's impact on their lives. The event will launch PH-EITI's newest publication, the "Women and Large-scale Mining: A Scoping Study," which features information on the issues and challenges women in mining communities face, and the policy gaps in addressing these issues and challenges. The talk will provide updates on PH-EITI's initiatives to make EITI implementation in the Philippines more gender-inclusive.
2. EITI 101 - 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Stakeholders who are new to the EITI process will benefit from this talk which serves as an explainer on extractives transparency. The event will showcase PH-EITI programs—from the production of country reports to stakeholder engagement activities, and how these benefit the public. This session will recount the progress and milestones of implementation seven years since PH-EITI was formed, and identify possible thematic areas of focus for the upcoming year. Testimonials on how PH-EITI helped improve extractives governance will also be shared by previous recipients of Transparency Awards.

1. Revenue Collection and Allocation - 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
This learning session will equip participants with knowledge of the processes and formulas involved in the collection, allocation, and utilization of revenues derived from natural resource extraction. The event will shed light on how mandatory payments are computed and how stakeholders can optimize PH-EITI reports in monitoring company payments to the government, as well as LGU shares in national wealth.
2. The Real Owners - 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM
The Real Owners is a talk about good corporate governance featuring the government's anti-corruption and anti-money laundering efforts through the disclosure of the beneficial or "real" owners of extractive companies. The session will consist of implementation updates from the SEC, testimonials from industry members that duly complied with MC 15 and PH-EITI's BO disclosure requirement, and a sharing of information about other national and international initiatives geared towards making the extractive industries more open and accountable.
3. Systematic and Comprehensive Disclosures - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
This is an online consultative workshop aimed at assessing the comprehensiveness and reliability of PH-EITI disclosures. The session also aims to rethink PH-EITI's mainstreaming efforts and review data and information that are already systematically disclosed. To be facilitated by PH-EITI's consultants for the seventh reporting cycle and mainstreaming feasibility study, the event is exclusive for MSG members and EITI implementing agencies.

The Extractives Data Blitz is a virtual conference exhibit featuring "lightning talks" or five-minute talks on timely and relevant topics such as the participating companies' social and environmental initiatives and efforts to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in mining areas. The exhibit will also serve as a platform for NGOs to showcase extractives-related studies, researches, and tools. Conference participants, who wish to know more about a particular topic, could visit virtual exhibit booths, where more information could be given by representatives of participating entities.
2. Natural Resource Governance - 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
This session will highlight mechanisms in place to ensure the good and inclusive governance of the country's natural resources. Resource persons will share updates on policies that govern the sector, identify policy and implementation gaps, and recommend actions to improve governance. Case studies on community participation in natural resource management, and a tool to diagnose corruption risks in the extractives will also be presented.

Objectives of the event
- Bring together government, industry, and civil society stakeholders in a weeklong and multi-sectoral series of events that highlight the importance and benefits of the open and accountable governance of the extractives
- Communicate the findings of the 6th PH-EITI Report, PH-EITI’s position on bills seeking to institutionalize extractives transparency, and the milestones and progress of EITI implementation in the Philippines over the last seven years
- Broaden stakeholder engagement, equip stakeholders with useful data and information on extractives, and encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices in natural resource governance
- Recognize government agencies, LGUs, companies, and civil society actors for outstanding performance and achievement in the implementation of EITI and promotion of extractives transparency as a whole
